Given my demanding roles as an educator and father, I try as much as possible to dedicate my time to creating excellent content that helps medical students to efficiently improve their scores and work more meaningfully. Accordingly, I’m harder to reach than most.

(See Neal Stephenson’s essay, “Why I’m a Bad Correspondent”, for some excellent explanations regarding this minimalist approach, which also work for busy medical students as well as novelists.)

General advice

If you are looking for general purpose advice, please read through the articles I’ve written previously. If none of the articles addresses your question, then please submit your question as a comment on one of the blog posts, so that others can benefit from the discussion.

Success stories

One of the favorite things about my job is hearing about the many incredible experiences, insights, and successes you have had. If you have one such experience, or would just like to say “thank you,” I’d love to hear from you at alec@yousmle.com.

Note: I really appreciate these stories, but due to time constraints, I’m usually not able to respond.

Tutoring

The requests for tutoring I get are numerous, and unfortunately, I cannot accommodate all of them. If you are interested in one-on-one tutoring for Step 1, Step 2, or Step 3 (or any other exam), I require all one-on-one tutoring students to also participate in group tutoring, which is focused on helping you to study smarter, not harder – so that even on a busy surgical rotation, you are still able to improve your score, without sacrificing any more sleep to do it.

Group tutoring participation drastically reduces (and in some cases eliminates) the need for individual tutoring.

If you are still interested in one-on-one tutoring, to help find the students who would benefit most from tutoring, please fill out the following form, and I will get back to you re: the next steps.
